Read your website analytics

Choose a reporting period, interpret the main metrics, and compare pages and traffic sources without mixing their definitions.

Neopress includes analytics for your published website. Start with a question, such as “Did more people reach our product page this week?” Then choose the period and filters before comparing numbers. A separate Google Analytics installation is not required for these reports.

Choose the reporting period

Open Insights → Analytics and choose a date preset or a custom range. Turn on Compare to compare with the preceding period of equivalent length. Use daily, weekly, or monthly chart grouping to see the pattern at a useful scale.

Launch provides a three-month analytics reporting window; Growth provides 24 months. A long preset such as All time remains subject to the available window. The reporting window is access to historical reports, not a promise that data existed before tracking began. Locked or sample panels are not a complete report for your site.

Read the main numbers correctly

  • Visitors: daily unique visitors added together for the selected period. Someone returning on two different dates is counted on both dates.
  • Pageviews: page loads, including repeat views. One visitor opening five pages produces five pageviews.
  • Pages / Visitor: pageviews divided by the sum of daily unique visitors.
  • Avg Dwell Time: the recorded average engagement time. Use it alongside the page's purpose rather than treating longer as always better.
  • Now Online: visitors active in the last five minutes, regardless of the selected historical period.
  • AI bots: realtime AI assistant fetches. These are separate from human visitors and from background training or indexing crawlers.

Find what changed

Review the page and source panels. Open a page's details to understand its performance, or compare source categories to see where visits came from. Location and technology panels help you spot patterns by region, device, browser, or operating system.

Use filters for a page/path, channel or referrer, location, or technology. A clicked report row can also add context to the current view. Before concluding traffic disappeared, check the active filter chips and clear any that no longer match your question.

Check tracking settings

In Insights → Analytics settings, set the Reporting timezone used for daily reporting. Keep it consistent when comparing reports.

Cookie-based tracking supports returning-visitor identification. With it off, tracking is cookieless and cannot identify returning visitors across different days. If Show cookie consent banner is enabled, Neopress tracks without cookies until the visitor consents. These choices affect how journeys and repeat visits can be connected.

Investigate an empty report

Confirm that the public site is live, the date range includes the visit, and filters are not excluding it. Distinguish an empty report from a loading error or plan lock. After a deliberate test visit, review the recorded result before making a larger content or campaign decision.
